The Job

Data Scientist will support leadership and Healthcare Informatics teams with insights gained from analyzing company and external data to help make smarter decisions and drive better outcomes. You must be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for quality improvement and process optimization. You must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis techniques, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing predictive models, using/creating algorithms upon structured and unstructured data. You must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-driven insights. You must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

You Will:

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging big data to drive business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data (both structured and unstructured data) from company databases and external data when needed to drive quality improvement, process optimization and business strategies.
  • Select features, building and optimizing models using machine learning techniques.
  • Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Use predictive models to increase and optimize intervention targeting, coding accuracy, and other business outcomes.
  • Do ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Actively support the achievement of SCAN’s Vision and Goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PHD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field required.
  • 1-2 years of experience handling data sets and building statistical/machine learning models preferred.
  • Experience with cloud computing platform is required, such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience building regression and classification models using various supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms (clustering, decision tree learning, neural networks, etc.).
  • Experience with most of the data science related python libraries/packages such as Pandas, NumPy, SciKit-Learn, TensorFlow, Matplotlib, SHAP, etc.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure and Databricks (for example, PySpark SQL and Dataframe) to perform data mining and EDA.
  • Experience with Git version control system tool.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Experience with recommendation systems and algorithms, such as content based filtering and collaborative filtering is preferred.
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) is preferred.
